what's behind variable drop size ?

TeckStorm and TeckThunder incorporate 4 Xaar 760 which provide CMYK at 5 levels of greyscale and that to Xaar’s XaarDot technology. They also are fitted with 2 Xaar 500 heads which provide smooth dense whites.

Xaar technology advantage:
Highest quality and highest productivity

Many other printers use fixed drop sizes which will show aliasing in curves and diagonals. For them the only solution is print with higher resolution but often this reduces productivity to uncompetitive levels. XaarDot technology changed drop size on the fly with little reduction to print speed.

XaarDot technology changed drop size on the fly with little or no reduction to print speed whilst maintaining superb image quality. Notice how solid areas are printed with large drops whereas lines and edges are smoothed by small droplets.

In the image above it can be seem that varying the drop size to 5 levels  even at 360 dpi, smooths the details and makes the appear much sharper than a 720dpi image.

When cyan, magenta and yellow ink is used instead of black ink we will face the same effect for each colour. The result: full colour images with smooth colour shades and sharp edges, fine lines and details and no need for Light Cyan or Magenta as XaarDot can achieve the smoother tone by varying drop sizes this saves both ink and print time!

The savings don’t stop with ink and printer time. By removing the need for light Magenta and light Cyan there is 40% saving in the ink system. Remember there is no chance to the perceived smoothness and tonal range of the image without those additional colors thanks to grayscale delivered by XaarDot technology.

Overall grey scale or variable drop printing is a highly efficient way of producing High Quality image at competitive prices.

Please come and take a look at the Teckwin TeckStorm and TeckThunder and see how they could work for you.

Controlled by the frequency and the amplitude of the electric pulse put on the piezo crystal, different sized drops are released from the ink channel or better to say, several small drops will build one big drop.

In binary head there are only two options Drop or No Drop. XaarDot Drops carry five times as much image information as the binary Drops providing optimal print quality, finest details, smooth color shades and graduations and sharp edges are the result.
